Summer Reading Challenge 2009

Join the Challenge!

All rising 9th grade and current Lancaster High students are encouraged to read over the summer break...beginning June 1. Read anything you like (books, magazines, newspapers) and record the number of pages in your Reading Log. Turn in your Reading Log to the LHS Media Center by September 4, 2009. Need suggestions on what to read?

Stop by the LHS Media Center before leaving school for the summer for a list of suggested titles or Click Here. You might also want to check out the South Carolina Reads  lists of 100 recommended books-- 2008 List Click Here or  2009 List Click Here. If you have required summer reading for one of your classes, be sure to check the reading lists provided by your teacher or visit the link on the LHS homepage.

Most (but not all) of the books on the lists are available from the LHS Media Center.  Others may be available from the Lancaster County Library. 

Participation in the No Book Left Unread Summer Reading Challenge is one factor used to determine the winner of the  

"Top LHS Reader for Fall Semester"

The LHS Media Center will be open on selected dates during June, July and  August for students to check out books and take Accelerated Reader tests.   Come by and check out our great collection while you have plenty of time to  read.
